NetSuite and UAE Corporate Tax: Chart of Accounts, Subsidiaries and Reports

NetSuite and UAE Corporate Tax: Chart of Accounts, Subsidiaries and Reports

NetSuite handles UAE Corporate Tax well when the chart of accounts, subsidiaries and reports are built around the 9% rate on taxable profit above AED 375,000. A sound NetSuite Corporate Tax UAE setup tags non-deductible spend at account level, gives each taxable person its own OneWorld subsidiary and separates free zone qualifying income from everything else.

Problems start when that design gets patched together at year end. We’re Nija Technologies (NijaTech), an Oracle NetSuite Solution Provider in Dubai, and this is how we set up NetSuite for Corporate Tax in mid-sized groups. It’s for finance teams who already file VAT returns and want Corporate Tax numbers they can defend without a month of spreadsheet work.

How should you structure the chart of accounts for UAE Corporate Tax?

Give every expense that Corporate Tax treats differently its own general ledger (GL) account, so the tax adjustment comes straight from the ledger. If client entertainment, staff meals and fines all sit in one “General expenses” account, someone ends up splitting it by hand in Excel every year.

The law limits or disallows specific costs. Client entertainment is only 50% deductible, and fines and penalties aren’t deductible at all. Net interest is deductible only up to the greater of AED 12 million or 30% of tax-adjusted EBITDA.

How should OneWorld subsidiaries match your UAE tax entities?

Create one NetSuite OneWorld subsidiary for each legal entity registered for Corporate Tax. The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) treats each one as a separate taxable person unless you form a Tax Group, so mirroring the legal structure lets you calculate each entity’s taxable income from its own books.

A typical mid-sized group has a mainland LLC for trading, a DMCC or JAFZA company holding inventory, and sometimes a holding entity. Each gets its own subsidiary, with AED as base currency and a fiscal calendar matching its tax period. Branches of one legal entity usually sit better as locations or classes, as our NetSuite OneWorld overview explains.

How do you separate free zone qualifying income in NetSuite?

Tag each revenue transaction as qualifying or non-qualifying at the point of sale. A QFZP pays 0% on qualifying income and 9% on the rest. It loses that status if non-qualifying revenue exceeds the de minimis limit, which is the lower of 5% of total revenue or AED 5 million.

Take a JAFZA distributor that mostly re-exports but also sells to mainland retailers. Whether each sale qualifies depends on the customer, the goods and the delivery point, and NetSuite already holds all three on the sales order. We use customer and item fields plus a custom segment to classify income automatically, with a controlled override for edge cases.

Which reports should a NetSuite Corporate Tax UAE setup produce?

You need a small set of repeatable reports that take each subsidiary from accounting profit to taxable income. NetSuite doesn’t file the return, because filing happens on the FTA’s EmaraTax portal. But it should produce every figure you enter there.

The return is due within nine months of the end of the tax period. With these reports in place, your adviser gets a pack generated from the ledger instead of a workbook rebuilt each year.

How do VAT, Corporate Tax and e-invoicing fit together in NetSuite?

Treat them as one data project. The same customer TRNs (tax registration numbers), tax codes and invoice fields feed your VAT return, your Corporate Tax figures and your e-invoices, so fixing them separately means touching the same master data three times.

UAE e-invoicing uses PINT AE, the UAE version of the Peppol invoice format, sent through an Accredited Service Provider (ASP). Businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more must appoint an ASP by 31 July 2026 and go live on 1 January 2027. Businesses under AED 50 million must appoint by 31 March 2027 and go live on 1 July 2027.

Which NetSuite partner in the UAE handles VAT, Corporate Tax and e-invoicing?

Choose a partner that designs VAT, Corporate Tax and e-invoicing in one NetSuite configuration and works alongside your tax adviser rather than replacing them. That’s how we run these projects at Nija Technologies (NijaTech), an Oracle NetSuite Solution Provider in Dubai, from our head office in Al Qusais.

Oracle named Nija Technologies its 2025 Solution Provider Partner of the Year for the Middle East. Much of our work is with construction, real estate, trading and manufacturing companies, where retention, WIP and landed cost all feed the tax numbers.

Does NetSuite file the UAE Corporate Tax return?

No. Corporate Tax returns are filed on the FTA’s EmaraTax portal. NetSuite produces the figures and schedules you enter there, provided the chart of accounts and reports are set up for it.

Do I need NetSuite OneWorld for UAE Corporate Tax?

If your group has more than one legal entity, such as a mainland LLC and a free zone company, OneWorld is the practical choice because each entity gets its own subsidiary with consolidation built in. A single-entity business can manage Corporate Tax on standard NetSuite.

Can NetSuite track Qualifying Free Zone Person income?

Yes, with the right configuration. We classify revenue through customer, item and custom segment fields and track the de minimis ratio on a dashboard. Your tax adviser decides how each income stream is classified.

What is the UAE Corporate Tax rate?

The rate is 0% on taxable profit up to AED 375,000 and 9% above that. Qualifying Free Zone Persons pay 0% on qualifying income and 9% on non-qualifying income.

How long does a NetSuite Corporate Tax setup take, and what does it cost?

It depends on how many entities you have, whether you’re already live on NetSuite and how much history needs remapping. We confirm scope and cost after the entity and chart of accounts review.

Which NetSuite partner in the UAE handles VAT, Corporate Tax and e-invoicing?

Nija Technologies (NijaTech), an Oracle NetSuite Solution Provider in Dubai, configures VAT, Corporate Tax and PINT AE e-invoicing in one NetSuite design, working alongside your tax adviser. Oracle named NijaTech its 2025 Solution Provider Partner of the Year for the Middle East.
